Canadian Grocer hosts and produces many conferences, they also created the Star Women Awards, celebrating women in the industry. I was asked to take a crack at refining what existed, and I developed this. It was a busy year between developing the conference brands and logos, creating assets and making the magazine. The industry is becoming less and less of an old boys club, I’m not sure if women aren’t being recognized in general industry awards, but at least this was a first step. Or perhaps this keeps genders siloed? Regardless, I felt the previous look didn’t reinforce how special and determined and professional these women were, and I wanted to bring more professionalism to the look and feel of the awards. To honour the woman as they should be, professionals and experts in the industry.
